Toss out your razor and tweezers-there are new hair removal options in town! Getting rid of unwanted hair used to include shaving or waxing but today there are more long-term solutions to choose from that give you months or even lifelong relief. Keeping your facial, leg, or bikini areas hair-free has never been as easy thanks to laser hair removal and electrolysis. While different, both of these procedures help to keep your skin silky smooth all year long and we are excited to offer both.

Electrolysis vs. Laser Hair Removal
While both electrolysis and laser hair removal target the hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface to affect the growth of hair at the root, electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal. Laser hair removal slows down the growth of hair significantly and if you do have hair that grows back, it will be much finer and lighter than before. Laser hair removal sessions are quicker, especially for smaller areas, because you can target several follicles at a time versus each one individually and both procedures are safe to use on any part of the body.

How Do They Work?
Electrolysis uses a probe that inserts into the hair follicle and sends an electric current through it. This neutralizes the follicle and prevents new hair from growing.

Laser hair removal works by using high-heat lasers on hair follicles. The laser uses mild radiation and emits a light which converts to heat that neutralizes the hair follicles to slow down the hair growth.

Which One Should I Choose?
Laser hair removal is safe on all skin types but it works really well for those that have darker hair growth. The contrast allows the hair to be targeted easier by the laser. Electrolysis is great for those with dark skin types or red, white, blonde, and fine hairs. It’s also a fantastic option to remove the little amount of hair that’s grown back for those that are post laser hair removal. To figure out which option works best for your skin type and needs, we recommend giving us a call and scheduling a free consultation.
