What Is HIFU?
High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound harnesses the penetrative warmth of ultrasound to target the deepest layers of the skin. This targeting, warming technology triggers natural collagen production within the skin’s cells.
Collagen gives skin its structure and elasticity—two qualities that often break down in aging or damaged skin. By restoring collagen to all of the skin’s layers, wrinkles and lines are filled and smoothed from the inside.
How Long Does HIFU Take?
One HIFU session within our state-of-the-art medical spa can take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the location and size of the area being targeted.
Because HIFU relies on the body’s own processes to generate a significant amount of new collagen cells, HIFU results will often be fully realized after 60 to 90 days.
Just two to three months after visiting Bellagena, many of our clients see striking results after one session. However, you may desire further treatments down the road. Because HIFU is safe, gentle and noninvasive, we are able to target more damaged skin with multiple treatments.
Is HIFU FDA-Approved?
HIFU has been an FDA-approved cosmetic procedure for more than a decade. The FDA first approved its safety and effectiveness for brown lifts in 2009. Then in 2014, HIFU was further approved to smooth lines and wrinkles in the décolletage, neckline, and upper chest areas.
The FDA’s rigorous standards ensure that HIFU is a safe cosmetic procedure. However, HIFU is still relatively new within the aesthetic industry. Not all aestheticians have been properly trained in this treatment.
