Hot stone massage therapy is the application of hot stones to the body when receiving a message. Typically, the stones are basalt stones. The stones are heated in a hot stone warmer from one hundred and thirty-five degrees to about one hundred and forty five degrees, depending on the request of the client. “On the extremities, you typically want the stones a little bit cooler than…on the back or the feet you can handle a little bit more heat” (Holub)
